BERGLIND SVAVARSDOTTIR

Berglind Svavarsdóttir, was born in Reykjavík, Iceland, where she graduated at The Icelandic University of the Arts in Reykjavík. Later she moved to Milan where, in 2004, she got the Painting Degree at the Fine Arts Academy of Brera and in 2009 she specializes in Visual Arts within the same istitution.
Her paintings are the result of the observation of nature and undergrowth – borderland claimed both by insects and plant life – and animal kingdom.
In her works two microcosms have merged: the real world and the fairy one, so the border between what we believe is possible and reasonable and what we consider unusual, ambiguous, fantastic, dreamlike fades.
Plants and animals come into domestic sphere restoring the space which more and more often has been misappropriated by the human intrusion.
