Nicola Caredda – Lucid Dreams
curated by Ivan Quaroni
Antonio Colombo’s Gallery is pleased to present, in the Magic Bus project room, Nicola Caredda solo show Lucid Dreams, curated by Ivan Quaroni.
In the borderland between wakefulness and dream, where the contours of reality blur and imagination takes over, lie the painted visions of Nicola Caredda.
Lucid Dreams is a journey through the artist’s hypnagogic universe – an altered state of consciousness where symbolic imagery, imaginary landscapes, and enigmatic appartitions emerge like ephipanies on canvas. Caredda’s painting draws freely from psychedelic aesthetic, pop culture, and the suspended atmospheres of metaphysical art to build a universe where myth, memory, and imagination intertwine in a shifting, incongruous visual narrative rooted in Surrealism. His images appear to arise from an expanded state of awareness, where intuition overrides logic and the invisible surfaces through the visible.
Nicola Caredda was born in Cagliari in 1981. He currently lives and works in Milan. He pursued artistic studies and earned a degree in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari. While still a student, he began collaborating with the LEM gallery, exhibiting in various public and private spaces, including the MAN Museum in Nuoro. After his early years working in Sardinia, he moved to Milan, taking part in numerous exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, including the United States, and showing at international art fairs such as Scope Art Miami, and Moniker London. . He has exhibited at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York and collaborates with Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles, where he held his first American solo show, God Save My Sweet Pusher, in 2020, followed by a second solo show, Don’t Trust Anyone Over 30. At Antonio Colombo Gallery, he participated in the group exhibition Pittori d’Italia, in 2024.
