LABORATORIO SACCARDI
Laboratorio Saccardi is an art collective founded in 2002 in Palermo, Italy. The group consists of artists Marco Barone, Roberto Boccadutri, Giovanni Lo Brutto and Vincenzo Profeta. Laboratorio Saccardi is known for their collaborative art, which includes painting, installations and multimedia projects, often characterized by an ironic and critical approach to contemporary culture and politics.
The group has exhibited their work in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad. Among their most significant exhibitions is “Pizza Connection” at 56 Henry Gallery in New York in 2017, an exhibition that explored themes of historical art and Italian economic crises through a series of paintings and installations. A particularly relevant work from this exhibition is “Black Star,” a painting that recalls the metaphysical atmospheres of Giorgio De Chirico, reinterpreting them with a sense of nostalgia and social critique.
Laboratorio Saccardi’s works have been presented in various museums and galleries, including the Museo Civico di Castelbuono in Italy. The collective has also participated in several international art fairs and exhibition projects, including the “Enzo Cucchi/Laboratorio Saccardi” exhibition in Cagliari and Palermo in 2014, demonstrating their continued relevance and innovation in the contemporary art scene.
