ALESSANDRO MENDINI
ALESSANDRO MENDINI (1931-2019) architect, designer, artist was born in Milan.
Interested in writing and theorizing as well as designing, he edited the magazines “Casabella,” “Modo” and “Domus.”
He created a fairytale world of objects, furnishings, paintings, writings, environments, works of architecture and complex, polemical, paradoxical, ironic and literary situations that often intertwine. His works are included in many museums and private collections around the world.
His practice seems to have two orientations: one that is solitary and introverted, and another based on working in groups. In fact, there are many works done alone, but also many are the groups he has formed, both with unknown people and with great designers and artists.
Since 2019 his daughters Elisa and Fulvia Mendini have been in charge of Archivio Alessandro Mendini and their father’s studio.
