ANTHONY AUSGANG

ANTHONY AUSGANG was born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1959. Currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
His artistic research lands, after his years of study in California, in what is now called a pop-surrealist or Low Brow poetics, characterized by the use of historical heritage to overthrow its commonplaces. Genre, stereotype and parody are the keys that have attracted its collectors including David Arquette, Nicolas Cage and Perry Farrell. Many are his international exhibitions.
Starting with his debut in 1991 with Manic Action at the Zero Art Gallery in Houston (Texas), this was followed by several solo exhibitions in California, including Autobiopsy at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery, Los Angeles (1998), Catscapes at the Kantor Gallery, Beverly Hills (2000), Double Trouble at the Copro Nason Gallery, Los Angeles (2003), and in 2005 Splat!, Copro Nason Gallery, Santa Monica, in 2007
His presence on the Italian scene began in 2001 with the group show Art parts, Mondo bizzarro gallery, Bologna, to continue with Apocalypse wow!, Macro Future, Rome. He was commissioned by Independent Ideas in 2010 to create a design for the Christmas windows of LaRinascente in Milan and landed at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea gallery where he has exhibited since 2010 with the group shows Fantasilandia and Kustom Kulture and the 2011 solo show AAA Attention Ausgang! (Mondo Gatto). In 2013 Negro y Blanco, Space:Eight, St. Augustine. FL, and in 2012 Ausgang, Cartoon Network, Burnamk, CA.
